Black Tie Goes “Pink Tie” for October

To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in October Black Tie Transportation’s chauffeurs will go “Pink Tie” to raise money for breast cancer research.

For every customer who mentions “Pink Tie” at the time of booking a reservation or likes Black Tie on their Facebook page, the company will donate $10 toward the Susan G. Komen Foundation. All chauffeurs will exchange their regular black ties for bright pink ones, so customers can be reminded of the effort.

Last year, Black Tie began this special effort and raised over $1,000. Because it was so popular with clients, chauffeurs and the entire staff, the company decided to make it a regular annual activity.

Those wanting to participate can call 800-445- 0444 to make a reservation, or go to the Black Tie Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BlackTieTrans

30 Years of Delivering Black Tie Service

    BY SUSAN ROSE

Black Tie Transportation CEO Bill Wheeler is an open book. If you ask him how to succeed in chauffeured ground transportation, he’ll happily tell you: “The secret to anyone’s success is that they care,” he says. “If you care enough, then you can teach your people to care and it becomes an easy business: Show up on time with a clean car and a professional chauffeur. That’s it.”

It’s that simple … and that difficult. Nearly three decades of experience have prepared Wheeler for most anything, including the dot-com bust and the explosion of the tech community in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area where the company is located.

    Del Corazon Orphanage
    Giving Back Wheelchair

    Wheeler’s Second Act
Running a successful company and putting the right people in place was the impetus for allow-ing Wheeler some time away from the business to focus on other interests. For Wheeler, that meant philanthropy. From 2002-2012, he traveled solo to more than 35 countries via motorcycle. Inspired by a friend who was afflicted with cerebral palsy, he cofounded the charity Del Corazon (“from the heart”), which focuses its efforts on providing mobility assistance to young people throughout North, Central, and South America—19 countries so far with Peru next on the list. The charity also supports the School of Imagination, a preschool for children with speech and developmental issues based in Dublin, Calif., as well as El Oasis Orphanage in Baja California, which Wheeler discovered on a motorcycle trip. Three times a year, the Del Corazon founders do a “Costco haul” worth about $15,000 to help the orphanage with supplies, mattresses, bedding, and electronics.

    Wedding Planning Transportation Tips

When planning a wedding, the main focus is usually booking the venue and hiring a caterer, leaving the wedding transportation arrangements until the last minute and bringing on the stress! But with careful planning, arranging transportation can be easy and a Big Treat to enjoy on your wedding day! Here are a few wedding transportation tips to make your transportation run smoothly on your special day:

Book your wedding transportation in advance

We recommend booking your transportation at least 4 months in advance to ensure you get first choice of your preferred vehicle. If you are getting married in May or June, prom and graduation season, we recommend you book up to 6 months in advance due to the season’s high demand–You don’t want to be scrambling for a limo at the last minute or end up with an unreliable service. Once you have an idea of the type of transportation you would like, you should book your vehicle(s) right away. If you are unsure of what you will need, don’t worry, our wedding coordinators will assist in choosing the right vehicle(s) for your party count and help coordinate all the logistics including routing, looping and timing of shuttles or pickups.
